Artist Bio:

Harkening back to the days when skaters were still considered rebels and punk was in the underground, Scheisse Minnelli channels the spirits of the sound and attitude of 80s west coast hc skate punk, blending raw punk riffing with musical prowess and poigniant lyrics that range from social issues to personal struggles into to a style all their own. Dedicated to their music and their often wreckless lifestyle, Scheisse Minnelli are a rare and shining example of practicing what one preaches. Though they’ve evolved…matured?...over the years, they show no signs of ever changing or calling it quits.

Formed in 2003, Scheisse Minnelli quickly made a name for themselves in the scene. They did their first European tour with Italian 80s HC legends Raw Power and since then have supported and toured with the likes of NOFX, Pennywise, Lagwagon, DRI, Poison Idea, Agent Orange, and Jello Biafra…just to name a few. Scheisse Minnelli has toured all over (SE Asia, Mexico, the USA, Europe, etc.) and played more shows than they can remember. To date, the band has released 4 full lengths and an assortment of splits, compilations and EPs. Their most recent release the Fifth of Skatehoven EP consists of 3 original songs and a hc punk cover version of Beethoven's 5th symphony!

Upon returning from their 4th North American tour the band set to work on writing new material. They hit the studio in November 2017 with legendary Copenhagen based sound engineer, Adam Schwartz, who they’d crossed paths with throughout the years on various tours with PW, Lagwagon and Jello. A new full length is set for release in 2018. In the meantime, the band plans to continue to play all over Europe and will be heading to Japan September 2018.

About The Video: The song is about a true story that happened when Sam was about 17 years old. It was a wild day and night. And yes - they were chased by a dude with an axe and they sold "peed on" paper as LSD to get money to see the Adicts play! The shit people do when they are young! „Yer in a Trance“ is the first video for Scheisse Minnelli’s upcoming fifth (!) album "Waking up on Mistake Street“ (Destiny Records / Beanies Records) containing twelve full speed ahead Hardcore/Skatepunk tracks with a „California-Style“ sense for catchy hooks, melodies and even melancholy. The songs are about real life experiences, personal stories encountered by Scheisse Minnelli or people they know - punkrock youth, criminal pasts, dealing with the world, experimenting with things like drugs as well as skateboarding and politics, of course. For friends of RKL, MDC, Verbal Abuse, Dr.Know…

The Album will be released on October 26th as CD-Digipack, limited color vinyl LP w/ DLC (piss-yellow vinyl) and digital DL.

The Blankz - "White Baby"

More about the band... Shop!

Artist Bio:

Rising out of the Arizona desert, Phoenix five-piece The Blankz celebrate the disruptive attitudes and no-holds barred fun of early punk and new wave with a modern point of view and hooks to spare. The band was originally intended to be a recording project between Tommy Blank (Slope Records founder Thomas Lopez) and Jaime Blank (esteemed garage/punk musician and archivist, Jaime Paul Lamb). Following a 2016 recording session for Jaime’s exotica-fueled combo Moonlight Magic, Tommy—who hadn’t played in a band since his teens—approached him about collaborating on some new music. “I kind of got this itch to do some shit that's kind of snotty like the Ramones, with some MOOG driving synth; kind of like Devo, and maybe a little crusty like the Spits,” he says.

He’d already sketched out a first song, too; “White Baby,” a quirky take on his experiences growing up as a white kid adopted by a Mexican-American family in Phoenix in the late-1960s, and his subsequent struggle with identity and quest for belonging. Inspired by a small document that detailed his birth but held little clues about his biological family or heritage, the song came together seamlessly. The friends dubbed the group The Blankz and, nodding to classic punk culture, they swapped the moniker with their surnames. The move holds special significance to Tommy, who despite growing up in a loving household and a rich cultural environment always had lingering questions about who he was and where he came from, like many children of adoption. “It evolved from an idea of my last name just being ‘blank,’ My last name was always kind of this thing for me, because that became who I am," he says, noting that as a teenager and young man his combination of white skin and traditional Spanish last name was often the first thing about him that caught people’s attention—and attracted both curiosity and antagonism. They quickly rounded out the lineup out with fellow Phoenix punk and garage vets—bassist Andy Blank, drummer Johnny Blank, and synth player Nikki Blank (who also plays in badass all-woman garage band, the Darts) and got to work on new material that oozes irreverence and showcases their penchant for fast, quick riffs and spastic beats.
